RAFI (Raising Awareness and Funds Initiative) is an Amsterdam founded initiative that aims to raise awareness and funds in support of and in solidarity with dire global and political currents. 

We aim to respond to different (yet intersecting) forms of oppression regionally and globally through local collectivization and collaboration.

Through education, fundraising, and conversation, we are continuously looking for ways to navigate both desensitization and isolation under the weight of global suffering and grief. 

In the words of Jared A. Loggins: “Solidarity is building collective power on the premise that something which has happened to you should happen to nobody”.

Being aware that one individual, organization, event or even global movement is not enough to secure freedom and stop oppression globally, we believe in concentrated efforts to spread attentiveness and care and activate communities locally.

Circulating within the (unfolding) Palestinian tragedy: "Let Your Heartbreak Politicize You, Let Your Heartbreak Radicalize You, Let Your Heartbreak Organize You" (inspired by Mariane Kaba), RAFI follows the initiative of radically deconstructing our thought patterns and putting our collaborative efforts to use for those politically oppressed.

The Safe Ride Hotline is an initiative that provides safe, supportive, and accessible transport for trans people going to and coming from medical appointments. 

Many trans people feel vulnerable coming to and leaving healthcare appointments, because they can be physically and emotionally demanding, and public transport unfortunately often is not the safest way to travel for women and queer people.

Safe Ride Hotline organizes trusted volunteers that offer rides to replace public transport, and brings them in touch with the person needing a ride.

Spread Salaam is a project that was born out of lockdown 2020, a lifelong love of football and the desire to express ourselves through design and creativity. At earlier RAFI fundraisers, we have happily hosted the sale of Spread Salaam soccer shirts. The money raised from these shirts directly went to families in Gaza impacted by the ongoing destruction and violence.

Now, Spread Salaam decided to offer RAFI a limited amount of soccer shirts to help us establish ourselves as a foundation, so we can increase the impact of our future actions!
